IMMIGRATION REFORM
WHAT HOUSTON EMPLOYERS NEED

There are many things that are broken about the immigration system and many issues that need to be addressed. But the heart of reform is fixing the legal immigration system so it works for America in the future, admitting the immigrants we need and preventing future illegal immigration. The best way to head off future illegal immigration is with a legal visa program that works, allowing employers in an array of industries – hospitality, food processing, construction, home health care and others – to hire foreign workers lawfully when there are no willing and able Americans. Texas congressman Ted Poe, chairman of the House Immigration Reform Caucus, will join a panel of Houston employers to discuss the immigration debate in Washington and explore what Texas business owners need from immigration reform.

ImmigrationWorks USA is a national federation of employers working to advance better immigration law. The network links major corporations, national trade associations and 25 state-based coalitions of small to medium-sized business owners concerned that the broken immigration system is holding back the growth of the U.S. economy. Their shared aim: legislation that brings America’s annual legal intake of foreign workers more realistically into line with the country’s labor needs.
