In April 2011, IW conducted a survey of employers who rely on the H-2B seasonal worker visa program to keep their businesses open and contributing to the economy. More than 500 employers responded, explaining why they need immigrant workers even in an economic downturn. Their message: the H-2B program is essential not just for their firms, but also for other businesses up- and downstream in the local economy. The H-2B program is small, but the stakes are high, and the survey provided critical ammunition for employers across sectors working to educate the public about the benefits of immigration.
