In July 2011, ImmigrationWorks sponsored two forums in Washington on immigration and federalism – a public symposium at the National Press Club and a briefing for congressional staffers. Participants included leading legal scholars and a group of elected officials and business leaders from across the country working to advance more sensible immigration law in their states. Among the state immigration champions who flew in for the events: Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff, Utah state senator Curtis Bramble, Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller and Cummins Inc. VP Mark Gerstle. Their message to Washington: voters across America are clamoring for an answer on immigration, and employers and Republicans must play a part in crafting that solution.
